Ban Aceh Ulama NU Gim Higgs Domino Island
JAKARTA - A number of scholars who are members of the 14th Regional Conference Forum of the Aceh Province Nahdlatul Ulama prohibit gambling played through online games such as Higgs Domino Island, which is now widely played by smartphone users in the "Serambi Mekkah" area.
"The Higgs Domino Island game is banned because it contains gambling practices," said the Head of the Aceh Province Nahdlatul Ulama (PWNU) Regional Committee, Teungku Faisal Ali, reported by Antara, Sunday, December 27.
The decision was made through a meeting of the Bahsul Masail Commission for the Aceh Regional Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PWNU) which took the theme of legal status for the Higgs Domino Island online game or often called chip games.
According to the results in the forum, said Teungku Faisal Ali, online games that do not contain gambling elements are also haraam, if they can cause harm (bad side) both physically and mentally to the players.
In addition, games played online via smartphones or electronic devices are also declared haram if they contain elements of violence and cause immorality, as well as insult Islamic symbols.
On this occasion, the Aceh PWNU Bahsul Masail Forum also recommended the Aceh Government to block all online gambling and game sites that meet the criteria of haram.
"We urge the government to immediately issue regulations on the prohibition of online gambling sites, and curb those who provide online chip game services," added Teungku Faisal Ali.
In addition, the ulama also asked every parent in Aceh to give serious attention and supervision to their children to avoid using online games.
In formulating the decision on the prohibition of online gaming, the Bahsul Masail Commission meeting was attended by the Bahsul Masail PWNU Aceh team, the Bahsul Masail Ma'hadal Ulum Diniyyah Islamiyah (MUDI) Institute Samalanga, and information technology experts from Banda Aceh.
