The Search for Austrian and German Tourists Dragged by the Waves at Diamond Beach Continues to the Lombok Strait
DENPASAR - The search for two foreign nationals (WNA) named Yury Chernyavskiy from Germany and Matthias Mittringer from Austria who disappeared in the waves at Diamond Beach, Nusa Penida District, Klungkung Regency, Bali, has not yielded results.
Head of Bali National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), Gede Darmada, said the joint team had searched for the two foreigners almost to the Lombok Strait, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) but had yet to find any signs of the victims.
"We have not found any signs at all and earlier we have also widened the search area to the Lombok Strait using a Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) and have not been found", said Darmada, Monday, January 9.
The joint SAR team's search operation has entered its seventh day and the victim has not been found.
SAR extended the search for victims for one or two days today. If within two days it is still not found then the search operation for the SAR team will be closed.
"We try and consider and optimize, one and two days ahead and we will extend this SAR operation. Hopefully with the extension later, there is hope that we can find victims", he said.

"If two days have not been found (SAR operation) we will close but that does not mean stopping everything. We will continue to make shipping announcements if a ship sees or finds it and informs the fishermen to inform Basarnas if someone sees us ready to evacuate", he continued.
