West Java Prosecutor's Office Waiting for a Copy of Herry Wirawan's Cassation Decision for the Execution of the Death Penalty

BANDUNG - West Java High Prosecutor's Office is waiting for the official cassation decision from the Supreme Court (MA) regarding the immoral case of students to carry out the execution of Herry Wirawan who is still sentenced to death.

The Head of the West Java Prosecutor's Office, Asep N Mulyana, said that currently, his party had not received the decision file from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court previously decided to reject the cassation on the death penalty against Herry Wirawan which was decided by the Bandung High Court.

"Until this morning we have not received an official decision. Of course, the basis for our execution is an official decision", said Asep at the West Java Attorney's office, Bandung City, reported by ANTARA, Monday, January 9.

According to him, his party will only study carefully and comprehensively regarding the verdict after receiving the file. Herry Wirawan is currently still languishing at the Bandung Kebonwaru Detention Center.

"We executors need to know exactly word by word, sentence by sentence. If later the verdict is a death sentence, of course, we will first pay attention to the rights of all the perpetrators", said Asep.

Meanwhile, according to him, the timeframe for the execution process depends on the legal efforts made by Herry. If there are no problems related to Herry's rights, then his party can carry out the execution.

"Later the defendant will make extraordinary legal efforts or not. The next one will confirm how long it will take", he said.

In addition, according to him, the prosecutor's office does not only focus on the execution of convicts. Because, he said, the fate of Herry's immoral victims also needed to be guarded by all parties.

"So, God willing, the child of the victim will not bear the burden of the perpetrator's behavior", he said.
