Kembangkan EBT, Perusahaan Singapura Bakal Kelola Sampah Di TPA Muara Fajar Pekanbaru

PEKANBARU - A foreign company from Singapore, PT Mars, expressed interest in processing waste in Pekanbaru, Riau, to be used as a renewable energy source.

Pekanbaru City Government (Pemkot) also welcomed it by conducting a study related to waste processing at the Muara Fajar Final Shelter (TPA) in Rumbai District.

"The plan is that the pile of garbage there will be processed into electrical and other processed energy," said Pekanbaru City Secretary (Sekda) Indra Pomi Nasution as quoted by Antara, Sunday, January 8.

He said PT Mars dari Singapura bekerja sama dengan Tomra selalu pihak swasta lokal telah melakukan expos ke pemkot untuk kerja sama pengolahan sampah di TPA Muara Fajar.

"PT Mars from Singapore in collaboration with Tomra is a producer of waste sorting tools. Garbage can be sorted into organic, then the output can be in the form of compost, oil, and others," said Indra Pomi.

This private party plans to process piles of garbage at the Muara Fajar TPA. This company, he continued, has a waste processing capacity of up to 750 tons in a day.

Indra Pomi assesses that this company is suitable for processing with the current waste conditions produced by the Pekanbaru City community. Moreover, the TPA Muara Fajar is now almost full.

"So our waste every day (at the Muara Fajar TPA) can be processed out. So piles of garbage are no longer available. If this company participates in waste processing, of course we accept it," he said.

Currently, he continued, the city government is still under study to choose the company. It will also form a team to discuss regulations and how it works.

"We will assess which companies are the best and most useful for Pekanbaru City. We will conduct a study first next week, God willing, next month there will be a decision," said Indra Pomi.
