490 Thousand People Enter Bali Through Airport During Christmas-New Year 2023
JAKARTA - Head of the Bali Province Transportation Service (Dishub) IGW Samsi Gunarta said that as many as 490,156 people entered Bali through I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, consisting of international and domestic arrivals during Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023.
Samsi in Denpasar, Sunday, said that the recapitulation of visitor arrival data during Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023, was recorded from December 19, 2022-4 January 2023, then compared to data in the same period in the last two years.
"The number of international arrivals from December 19, 2022, to January 4, 2023, was 236,599 people, while in the same period in 2021/2022, 0 people, and in 2020/2021 there were 248 people," he said.
The international arrival rate through the airway entrance increased by 100 percent, reaching 236,559 compared to the same period the previous year, because at that time the international flight of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport was closed.
The increase in domestic passenger arrivals also increased drastically when compared to Christmas and New Year 2020/2021 with a difference of 99.9 percent or 236,351 people.
Meanwhile, the number of aircraft coming from international routes was 1,286 airlines, or up 99.9 percent from the 2021/2022 period, which was only four airlines.
The increase in the number of aircraft that came during Christmas and New Year 2020/2021, for international arrivals only from 64 airlines.
At domestic arrivals, the Bali Transportation Agency recorded that the number of passengers reached 253,557 people at Christmas and New Year 2022/2023, bringing the overall international and domestic arrivals to 490,156 people for 17 days at the end of 2022 until the beginning of 2023.
"The number of domestic arrival passengers is 253,557 people during Christmas and New Year 2022/2023, in 2021/2022 there are 174,398 people, and 2020/2021 it reaches 101,876 people," he said.
Samsi said there was an increase in domestic arrivals by 31 percent or 79,159 people when compared to Christmas and New Year 2021/2022, and 60 percent or 151,681 people when compared to the 2020/2021 period.
The domestic passenger arrived with a total of 1,942 planes, up 25 percent from the Christmas and Bau Year 2021/2022 periods with 1,455 aircraft.
He conveyed that the increase also occurred when compared to 2020/2021, which at that time was 1,565 aircraft, so the difference was 19 percent.
Samsi said that the departure data through I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport also increased during the 17 days of the Christmas and New Year 2022/2023 period. "The number of domestic departure passengers from December 19, 2022-4 January 2023, 253,763 people, in 2021/2022 as many as 181,144 people, and in 2020/2021 as many as 118,421 people," he said.
He explained that domestic departures also increased by 29 percent or 72,619 people when compared to 2021/2022 and an increase of 53 percent or 135,342 people from 2020/2021.
Meanwhile, in international departures, 218,691 people reached Christmas and New Year's 2022/2023, an increase of 99.9 percent from the same period in the previous year which was only two people, and Christmas and New Year's Day two years earlier only 217 people.
The Bali Provincial Government official said there were no significant problems related to traffic regulation on the Island of the Gods when visitor movements occurred during Christmas and New Year 2022/2023.
"Relatively there are no problems with these accesses, except at the end of the year we are a bit worried about the difficulty of public transportation returning to the airport, because of traffic jams in tourist pockets," he said.
