Chairman Of GP Ansor Highlights Qoriah Disaster When Reading Al-Quran: If It's An Regional Culture, Please Stop

JAKARTA - Member of Commission VIII DPR RI from the PKB faction, Luqman Hakim, suspects that there are people in areas who have a tradition of giving palm oil to qari/qariah who are reading the Koran. However, he asked that such a'sawer' culture be eliminated because it violated the values of decency.

This was conveyed by Luqman highlighting a qariah event called Nadia Hawasyi, which was screened when reading a verse of the Koran at an event in Pandeglang, Banten.

"Even if such practices have become a tradition or culture in an area, it should be stopped because they violate polite values," Luqman told reporters, Friday, January 6. The chairman of GP Ansor hopes that the ulama in the local area can provide understanding to the public so that the practice of sawer against qari or qariah is no longer carried out. "If the intention is to give appreciation to qari or qariah, then it can be done politely and respectfully," said Luqman. Previously, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) said that Qoriah who was reading the holy verses of Al Quran violated the values of decency.

"This is a wrong way and does not respect the assembly. Acts are haram and violate the values of decency. Stop events and actions like this," said MUI Chairman for Da'wah and Ukhuwah Cholil Nafis in Jakarta, Thursday, January 5.

It is known, a video circulated showing a qoriah reading a holy Qur'an, pulling someone up on stage throwing money around.

Not long after, someone came again who did the same thing. Even the second man slipped money in his qoriah veil.

Later, Ustadzah Hj Nadia Hawasy also provided clarification regarding the viral video. He provided clarification through the Instagram comment column Ustadz Hilmi Firdaus who uploaded the saweran video.

Ustadzah Hj Nadia Hawassy also admitted that she also felt unappreciated by the sawer's action when she was studying it. Actually, she was also angry and didn't want that behavior to come to her at all, it's just that at that time her condition forced her to be impossible to get angry.

"Assalamualaikum ustadz, I also don't feel appreciated by ustadz, because my position is studying, it's impossible to be angry on stage," he said as seen from his Instagram account, nala_hawasyi6050, Friday, January 6.

"Because it's one of the adabs reading the Qur'an. I couldn't immediately get angry when I was reciting. That's why I just withdrew the money in my headscarf. After I got off the stage I just reprimanded the committee," he continued.

Nadia emphasized that at the event to fill the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, as her quriah. She herself did not know that during the recitation, the committee, both men and women, would pay for her.

"And when I was being screened, my position was still reciting, it was impossible for me to immediately reprimand or I immediately stopped going down the stage because it included the adab in reading the al-quran," he explained.

"At the time I was screened, I was really angry and very upset. Not long after I was pulled, I immediately got off the stage, then I immediately reprimanded the committee. So actually the committee was wrong, did not respect us as readers of the Qur'an," continued Nadia.
