Against Officers, Police Shoot Dead Bandar Heroin In South Jakarta
JAKARTA - The Metro Jaya Regional Police's Narcotics Detective Directorate has to shoot dead a drug dealer in the South Jakarta area. The hot lead had to be fired, because the perpetrators fought back by seizing firearms belonging to the officers.
Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus said the unfortunate incident occurred when the police were ransacking the house of a drug dealer in the Mampang area, South Jakarta. From the search site, the police found evidence of drugs in the form of heroin.
"During the search, the JAJ tried to fight back by taking the officers' weapons. In a state of urgency, the officers finally took measured decisive action to incapacitate the suspect. Unfortunately, on the way to the hospital, the suspect died," said Yusri at Polda Metro Jaya, Monday, February 3rd.
It is known that the man with the initials JAJ is an old actor in a drug network. The police said that this network had been operating to distribute narcotics for the past five years.
"It has been operating for about 5 years and has been in action in South Jakarta. The results of this team's deepening are still being explored because it is still developing again. There are other names of actors who are in Unit 2 Sub Directorate 3 Ditresnarkoba PMJ," added Yusri.
Apart from the JAJ, the police also arrested three other suspects along with evidence that was successfully secured by around 43 grams of heroin. For their actions, the suspects were subject to Article 114 paragraph 2 subsidiary to Article 111 paragraph 2 of the Republic of Indonesia Law 35/2009 concerning narcotics. The suspects face up to 20 years in prison.
The JAJ's death has increased the number of narcotics dealers who have been shot dead by officers. Based on data for 2019, it was recorded that 35 drug dealers had been prosecuted.
With details, 32 of the suspects were Indonesian citizens (WNI) from a number of provinces. While the other 3 people are foreign nationals (WNA).
