BPK Promises To Announce Total Losses Due To Jiwasraya At The End Of February 2020

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) Agung Firman Sampurna said that the total state losses due to the PT Asuransi Jiwasraya (Persero) case will be announced at the end of February 2020.

Agung said that until now the BPK is still calculating the total state losses due to the Jiwasraya case of default so it is expected to be completed by the end of this month.

"Especially for Jiwasraya, the calculation and investigation of state losses will hopefully be completed by the end of this month, namely February," he said at the BPK RI Building, Jakarta, Monday, February 3.

Agung hopes that what BPK has done regarding the calculation of state losses due to the Jiwasraya case can support the ongoing implementation of the law.

"We are calculating state losses to support the implementation of the law," he said.

He said the examination and investigation of the Jiwasraya case was quite long, because it covered various broad and detailed matters, such as related to the roles of the Ministry of BUMN, OJK, IDX, KSEI (Indonesian Central Securities Depository), and so on.

"The investigative examination itself is quite long because there are also quite a lot of things involved. Also related to entities such as the Ministry of BUMN, OJK, IDX, and KSEI. We will do the examination, ”said Agung.

He explained that the party being questioned by the BPK did not mean that they were wrong, but that they only wanted to see the connection with the fraud process that occurred at Jiwasraya, as well as the duties and responsibilities of each of these entities.

"It does not mean that those investigated are guilty, because we want to see the connection between the fraud process at Jiwasraya and the implementation of their respective duties," he said.

Not only that, Agung also ensured that the BPK would continue to support the Commission XI DPR RI Working Committee (Panja) to create various solutions in solving the Jiwasraya case.

"Earlier we talked with Commission XI that what we are doing will support the work of the Panja, whose formula is to provide solutions," said Agung.

Meanwhile, Agung said that the BPK was also calculating the state's losses due to the PT Asabri (Persero) case after it was confirmed that there was a legal case against the company by law enforcement officials.

"Law enforcement in the Asabri case is under the authority of law enforcement officials. If we do the calculation of state losses and that is because a legal case has been declared there, "he said.

Complete Until 2023

Chairman of Commission XI DPR RI Dito Ganinduto said his party and BPK agreed to resolve the Jiwasraya case in a maximum period of three years or 2023.

"We agree with the Chairman of the BPK that this solution must be completed in a maximum of three years. So Jiwasraya must be completed in a maximum of three years from now, which means that 2023 must be completed and no longer than three years, "he said.

Dito said that the target time to resolve the Jiwasraya case is a joint commitment to continue to find the best solution to restore the rights of the customers who are victims.

"God willing, we can solve this as soon as possible. We agree with the Chairman of the BPK that the goal now is to find a solution so this examination is in order to find a solution, "he said.

Dito said the return of the rights of 5.5 million Jiwasraya customers and 17 thousand JS Saving Plan customers will be carried out in stages, starting from the first quarter of 2020 until finally completed in 2023.

"The main solution is to return the rights of the 5.5 million customers, including 17 thousand who invested in the JS Saving Plan. As stated by BUMN Minister Erick Thohir that it will be resolved, InsyaAllah, starting in the first quarter of this year, "he explained.

Dito asked the public, especially Jiwasraya customers, to remain calm and entrust the resolution of this case to the government because he made sure that his party would continue to guard it to completion.

"We ask all customers to be calm and entrust the government because we are here as promised by the Minister of SOEs to be completed in the shortest possible time," he said.
