Borong Proper Gold, Proof Of Pertamina's Decarbonization Commitment

JAKARTA - Pertamina's success in buying up 20 Gold Proper awards is considered as evidence of the SOE's commitment to decarbonization. This includes efforts to achieve the Net Zero Emission (NZE) target by 2060.

"This is proof of Pertamina's commitment. They prove that they are the pioneers of emission reduction. They have succeeded in various breakthroughs. Through New Renewable Energy (EBT), Pertamina is also the pioneer. Pertamina is the pioneer of the creation of an energy mix," said environmental economist Bernalus Saragih, in his statement, Thursday, January 5.

According to Bernaulu, various breakthroughs in sustainable energy have indeed made Pertamina the leading BUMN in efforts to decarbonize. So it is natural that, in the end, Pertamina managed to buy 20 of the 51 Proper Gold awards of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK).

"The Gold Proper Award certainly has an assessment indicator and of course Pertamina is considered to meet this indicator. This includes reducing emissions and reducing waste disposal, including leaks, and so on. I myself see that Pertamina is indeed the best and deserves a Proper Gold," he said.

Not only that. Through these various breakthroughs, continued Bernalus, Pertamina has also succeeded in aligning itself with multinational companies. Especially in a sustainable economy.

"Therefore, we appreciate Pertamina. Through a breakthrough, they are able to balance multinational companies. Pertamina has become a BUMN that has credibility that can be proud of internationally," he said.

Previously, Pertamina and several of its subsidiaries, indeed won 20 awards for the Company's Performance rating Assessment Program in the 2022 Environmental Management (Proper) for the Golden category from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (LHK).

Not only that, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry also gave the Green Leadership Utama award to Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati as the highest leader whose company received a gold rating.

Nicke was chosen as the Main Green Leadership because she was considered to have succeeded in meeting several criteria. For example, managing new and renewable energy, managing water responsibly and available to all, managing natural resources and communities affected by production and service activities, and managing waste well.

Then, the environment is free from pollution, builds physical infrastructure to maintain the health of the ecosystem and its communities, meets the needs of people in the health sector, and treats fairly and does not discriminate.
