Reasons For Determining Rizieq Shihab Suspect In Case Of Violation Of The Megamendung Health Center

JAKARTA - The National Police Criminal Investigation Unit named the High Imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab as a suspect in a case of violating the health protocol (prokes) in Megamendung, Bogor. The suspect was named because Rizieq had caused the crowd.

"Evidence shows that Rizieq was responsible for causing the crowd," said the Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Andi Rian, to VOI, Thursday, December 24.

The evidence meant, said Andi, was in the form of testimony from witnesses, experts, and information that had been collected. However, he did not elaborate on the strong evidence in determining Rizieq as a suspect.

In this case there are no other suspects apart from Rizieq Shihab. Andi said the reason was because the event that caused the crowd did not have a committee.

"There is no committee, there is no committee in the Megamendung (crowd)," said Andi.

Meanwhile, the crowd case at the UMMI Hospital, Bogor, is still in the process of being investigated. The police are still looking for evidence and clues regarding whether or not there is a criminal offense.

Rizieq Shihab was named a suspect in the alleged health protocol (prokes) case that took place in Megamendung, West Java. Determination of the suspect is based on evidence and case title.

"Yes, it has (been named a suspect)," said the Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Andi Rian in his statement, Wednesday, December 23.

According to Andi, investigators applied a different article to the crowd case in Petamburan, Central Jakarta. Investigators fully use articles related to health quarantine.

In this case, the investigator used Article 14 paragraph (1) and paragraph (2) of Law Number 4 of 1984 concerning Contagious Disease Outbreaks, Article 93 of Law Number 6 of 2018 concerning Health Quarantine, and Article 216 of the Criminal Code.
