JAKARTA - The National Police Chief, General Idham Azis, issued an announcement number Mak / 4 / XII / 2020 concerning Compliance with Health Protocols in the Implementation of the 2020 Christmas Holidays and the New Year 2021, dated 23 December 2020.
Head of the National Police's Public Relations Division, Inspector General Prabowo Argo Yuwono, explained that the issuance of the Chief of Police's Declaration was aimed at breaking and preventing the chain of spread of COVID-19 during the long year-end holiday.

Argo said that the announcement was issued because he considered that the handling of the spread of COVID-19 nationally had not been fully controlled and had the potential to develop widely in the community.
The declaration aims to provide protection and ensure the security and safety of the public during the Christmas 2020 and New Year 2021 holidays.
Therefore, the Chief of Police of Idham issued an edict not to hold meetings / activities that invite large crowds in public places in the form of Christmas celebrations and religious activities outside places of worship, New Year's Eve parties / celebrations, parades, parades and carnivals and fireworks lighting .
Through the Declaration, the National Police Chief said that if an act was found to contradict the Decree, every member of the National Police was obliged to take the necessary action in accordance with the laws and regulations.
Previously, the National Police Chief, General Idham Azis, had issued the Chief of Police's Declaration twice about COVID-19, namely the first announcement regarding Compliance with Government Policies in Handling the Spread of COVID-19 dated March 19, 2020 and the second announcement regarding Compliance with Health Protocols in the Implementation of Simultaneous Regional Elections 2020 dated 21 September 2020.
