Liverpool, Who Have Forgotten, Are Feeling Lost
JAKARTA - Liverpool are increasingly untouched at the top of the Premier League standings. A 4-0 win over Southampton on Saturday, February 2, put Jurgen Klopp's men 22 points clear of second-placed Manchester City.
The Reds sit comfortably at the top of the standings with 70 points from 24 matches. They have 23 wins and only once.
With this result, Liverpool are now equaling City's record of winning streaks in 20 home games. Only Bill Shankly's Liverpool have more consecutive home wins than Klopp's. Between January and December 1972, Shankly's men racked up 21 consecutive wins.

The victory over Southampton also extended Liverpool's unbeaten streak in the league this season. When combined with last season's matches, the Reds are unbeaten in 42 matches.
It didn't stop there. They have also picked up 100 points from the last 102 available matches.
Liverpool are also on track to break the record set by Manchester United in 2001. At that time, the Red Devils won the Premier League trophy the fastest, namely on April 14 when the league still has five games left.
Mathematically, if Liverpool and Manchester City win steadily, Klopp's men can claim the Etihad title on April 4 when these two teams meet. With six matches remaining, Mohamed Salah et al will end the fast for the Reds league title in 30 years.
However, Liverpool were only able to lift the trophy a month later after their last league match at Anfield. In a match that will be held on May 4, they will face Chelsea.
Anfiled's men are also chasing a season-long unbeaten run previously held by Arsenal. The Gunners became the only team that received the title of The Invincibles when they won the 2003-2004 Premier League trophy.
At that time, Arsenal won 26 matches and the rest ended in a draw. Liverpool's chance to match Arsenal's record is wide open.
