Not Yet Tasting 5G, China Is Already Preparing A 6G Network
JAKARTA - Currently, the world's telecommunication vendors and operators are adapting the fifth generation or 5G internet network. China seems to be impatient to move on to newer technology.
6G technology is the name, an internet network that has a speed of 8,000 times faster than 5G. This network began to be developed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China
Quoting from the GSM Arena, the 6G internet network will have extraordinary speeds and be more reliable than 5G. Even though the 5G network alone has brought a new technological civilization to modern society, with an average speed of 300 Mbps.
With such speed, downloading 1GB of data files can be done in 28 seconds. Meanwhile, the maximum speed can reach 1 Gbps, depending on the location and strength of the network.
According to the head of the development team, Su Xin, 6G internet network speed can be 10 times faster than 5G. Thus, if it is used to download 1GB of data with a high quality format, it will only take a fraction of a second for the user to complete the file.
So far, Huawei and Verizon have started to adopt the 5G internet network on the telecommunications devices they make. Of course, with more and more cellular vendors and operators starting to implement 5G technology, the internet network ecosystem will be even more capable in the future.
6G network development
Since the beginning of 2019, a number of countries and smartphone vendors have started exploring their research institutions to develop 6G networks. Huawei has even collaborated with more than 13 universities to develop technology that is faster than 5G.
Japan is also reportedly working on a comprehensive strategy to launch a 6G network. If there are no obstacles, this technology will be introduced around 2030.
"The introduction of smooth standards for next-generation wireless communication networks is urgently needed to enhance Japan's international competitiveness," said Communications Minister Sanae Takaichi as quoted by Japan Today.
Apart from Japan, South Korea is also reported to have started its research to develop a 6G internet network in Seoul. Samsung will start to adopt 6G technology in their devices.
So far, there is no definite standardization for 6G networks, because 5G technology has not been fully adopted by vendors and cellular operators in the world. Meanwhile in Indonesia, it is still struggling with the preparation of cellular networks and operators to welcome 5G technology in the territory of the country.
Minister of Communication and Informatics (Menkominfo) Jhonny G. Plate said that the government is preparing a comprehensive ecosystem to support the 5G network in Indonesia.
"Indonesia is preparing and coordinating the ecosystem in the context of implementing 5G in Indonesia, from upstream to downstream. Currently, there are still many things that must be prepared to implement this technology," explained Plate.
Plate said that Indonesia had prepared several things carefully. A number of supporting factors are not ready, including the frequency allocated for the 5G network, which is one of the obstacles to the implementation of the network in Indonesia.
