Jadi Nomor 1 Dunia Ternyata Menyatai Target Fajar/Rian Di Akhir Tahun 2022

JAKARTA - Successfully ranked first in the world BWF ranking at the end of this year has exceeded the target of Indonesian men's doubles, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto. The pair officially moved up to their top position this week after the disbursement of the ranking points was carried out.

The two shifted the Japanese pair Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi who were thrown into second place.

"What is certain is that I am very grateful and happy. At the beginning of the year I wanted to finish in the top three of the targets, but thank God it could be more. This must be maintained," said Fajar in a statement received by VOI, Friday, December 30.

Fajar/Rian currently have a total of 88,655 points, far above the second rank they shifted which collected 82,700 points. This achievement cannot be separated from their good and consistent performance throughout 2022.

They had struggled in the early stages of these first two annual tournaments before rising and successfully breaking the eight finals of the BWF World Tour tournament. Four of them became champions.

In addition, they also won the bronze medal title successfully from the 2022 World Championships. Then their journey was sweetened by finishing in the semifinals of the BWF World Tour Finals 2022 and the 2022 Asian Championships.

"It cannot be expressed in words. Of course, this is the result of the hard work of both of us and the coaching team as well as the support team. This is our best year as a couple," said Rian.

Fajar/Rian will start in 2023 as the world's number one in the Malaysia Open tournament. The tournament, which will advance from BWF World Tour Super 750 to BWF World Tour Super 1000, will be held in Kuala Lumpur on January 10-15.
