The Duel Of Tyson Fury Vs Oleksandr Usyk At Wembley Can Break The Audience Record
JAKARTA - The highest audience record in British boxing history is predicted to be solved if Tyson Fury becomes against Oleksandr Usyk at Wembley Stadium.
Fury and Usyk reportedly agreed on a duel for the undisputed unification of the four heavyweight division belts early next year. England and the Middle East are also favorite locations for this duel.
Former cruiserweight champion, Johnny Nelson said the fight could be one of the biggest duels. For that, he believes, the UK's record audience is broken.
"The timing is right. It should happen in the first quarter. Potential dates have been determined. There is no reason they don't duel with each other," Nelson said.
Fury, 34, has a health worker, garnered 94 thousand views at Wembley in April when he defeated Dillian Whyte. The crowd is the largest in British boxing history.
Then in early December Fury also successfully presented 60,000 pairs of eyes to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when he defeated Derek Chisora in ten rounds.
"He [Tyson Fury] has an extraordinary reputation. He has challenged all obstacles and continues to do so. I think this is the perfect duel," Nelson said.
"If a fight occurs then it will exceed sales of 95,000 tickets against Whyte. If they fight here [British], I think that fight will be the biggest," he added.
Currently, Lennox Lewis is universally still recognized as the number one heavyweight in the world. After Lewis retired in 2003, the division was dominated by Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko.
The two brothers held the four main titles at the same time. However, of course they will never fight each other.
Tyson Fury then beat Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 to unravel the three belts, while Deontay Wilder won the WBC crown the same year.
Fury was out of boxing for two years. Anthony Joshua then brought together the WBO, WBA and IBF titles in an impressive series of wins. However, he never fought Wilder.
Wilder then lost his WBC title in 2020 after losing to Fury and could not reclaim the belt a year later for losing the rematch.
The clash between Joshua and Fury, who both came from England when they won, has never been united. Joshua then lost twice to Usyk.
Successfully defeating Joshua made Usyk a major threat to Fury. Usyk and Fury are now boxers from the top two heavyweights in the world so their duel to decide who is number one is highly anticipated.
