President Jokowi Issues A Job Creation Perppu
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo has stipulated and issued Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) Number 2 of 2022 concerning Job Creation, on urgent needs to anticipate global conditions."Today, Perppu Number 2 of 2022 has been issued, dated December 30, 2022," said Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto in a press statement at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Antara, Friday, December 30.He said the consideration of the determination and issuance of the Perppu is an urgent need. The government needs to accelerate anticipation of global conditions both related to the economy and geopoliticals.He said related to the economy, Indonesia is facing a global recession, increasing inflation, and the threat of stagnation. In addition, more than 30 developing countries have also been included in the IMF list, and 30 other countries are lined up for the list of IMF recipients."So this crisis condition for emerging development countries is becoming very real, and also geopolitical about Ukraine-Russia and other conflicts and the government is also facing, of course, all countries are facing a food, energy, financial and climate change crisis," he explained.Airlangga said President Jokowi had also spoken with the Chairman of the DPR RI regarding the issuance of the Job Creation Perppu so that the Chairman of the DPR RI had been informed."In principle, the Chairperson of the DPR has been informed about the Perppu on Job Creation and this is guided by the laws and regulations and the Constitutional Court's decision," said Airlangga.Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD stated that the legal aspects and laws and regulations regarding the issuance of Perppu Number 2 of 2022 dated December 30, 2022, were due to urgent reasons or urgent needs in accordance with the Constitutional Court's decision Number 138/PUU-VII/2009.Mahfud at that time was the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court who signed the Constitutional Court's decision."So there is an urgent need, or lack of force to be able to quickly resolve legal problems with the law, but the law needed for that does not exist or so there is a legal vacuum or does not provide certainty," Mahfud explained."Therefore, the government considers that there is sufficient reason to state that the promulgation of Perppu Number 2 of 2022 is based on the urgent reason that was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy," added Mahfud.
