29 Units Of Citizens' Houses In Naitiel Kupang Village Lost In Bandang Floods, 85 Families Sustained
The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) said 29 housing units of the residents of Naitael Village, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province were swept away by flash floods in the early hours of Thursday, December 29."Based on the results of data collection carried out by BPBD, 29 houses were lost in flash floods in Naitael Village, West Fatuleu District," said Head of the Disaster Risk Reduction Forum (FPRB) Kupang Regency Elfrid V Sstrange in Kupang, quoted from Antara, Thursday, December 29.Flash floods hit two villages in West Fatuleu District, namely Naitael Village and Tuakau Village due to the overflow of the Siumate River and damaged 85 houses in the two villages.The severely damaged was experienced by residents of Naitael Village, where 29 houses were swept away by flash floods, while in Tuakau Village there were 56 houses damaged and flooded water."The heaviest condition is in Naitael Village, apart from the houses of residents who were lost by the flood, there were also houses damaged by the overflow of the Siumate river," said Elfrid V Sstrange.He added that as a result of the incident, 85 families fled to Naitiel Village and Health Post at SMP Negeri 4 Siumate, West Fatuleu District. The urgent needs for residents affected by the flash flood in the two villages are tarpaulins, ready-to-eat food, clean water, blankets, and family kits."Residents whose houses were completely damaged and still flooded survive in the refugee camps, because the rain is still pouring down the area," said Elfrid V Sstrange.According to him, apart from destroying people's houses, flash floods also damaged the road infrastructure connecting two villages in West Fatuleu District.
