Bad Weather Dismissing Wings Air And Nam Air From Kupang Airport
JAKARTA - Two airlines were forced to postpone their flight on the Kupang-Larantuka and Kupang-Maumere routes due to the extreme weather that occurred in East Nusa Tenggara.
Public Relations of PT Angkasa Pura I at El Tari Kupang Airport, Devi Budihandayani explained, the two airlines are Wings Air and Nam Air.
"For Wings Air, the type of ATR aircraft is. Meanwhile, Nam Air is a Boeing aircraft. The two planes were supposed to fly on Wednesday but were delayed due to bad weather," Devi said as quoted by Antara, December 29.
The two aircraft are Wings Air with flight number IW 1821 to Larantuka with a total of 74 passengers.
The second is the Nam Air plane with flight number IN 281 with the Maumere route, with 116 passengers.
For Wings Air with the Kupang-Larantuka route, it is planned to depart on Thursday (29/12) today while monitoring the weather movement in NTT. Meanwhile, the plane with the Kupang-Maumere Baru route will depart on Friday (30/12).
Devi also added that a number of planes had previously been out of El Tari airport, but due to bad weather the two planes returned to El Tari airport.
Meanwhile, based on the latest release from BMKG on Tuesday (27/12), the BMKG issued an early warning regarding the potential for rain with light to heavy intensity which can be accompanied by short strong winds in almost all areas of NTT.
The public is also advised to anticipate the potential for an increase in wind speed of about approximately 45 kilometers per hour in the NTT region.
"A number of potential extreme weather can occur in the past week," said Head of the El Tari Kupang Meteorological Station Agung Sudiono Abadi.
