JAKARTA - One person died after more than 200 vehicles were involved in piles on a bridge in China's Zhengzhou City, in a thick fog, according to CCTV rescuer and broadcaster.

Cars and trucks look tangled and piled up against each other on Zhengxin Huanghe Bridge in images and videos uploaded on social media. One car is caught in the middle of a pile in the image taken from surveillance camera footage.

"It's too scary. Full of people here, I don't think we can get off the bridge," someone could be heard saying in a video clip.

Many of those injured were trapped in the vehicle. To save them and provide assistance, the Fire Department sent 11 fire trucks and 66 officers to help, state media reported.

Rescuers said more than 200 vehicles collided with each other, media reported.

Meanwhile, China's meteorological agency said visibility in many areas on Wednesday morning was less than 500 meters, with sometimes dropping to 200 meters.

CCTV reports that cars traveling in both directions across the bridge, the main crossing of the Yellow River, were involved in many accidents.

As a result of the incident, the police then closed the bridge for all traffic.
