Joko Tjandra Sentenced To 2.5 Years In Prison In The Case Of A Fake Road Certificate
JAKARTA - The panel of judges at the East Jakarta District Court sentenced Joko Tjandra to two years and six months in prison in connection with a case of fake travel documents. Joko is considered guilty in this case.
"Sentenced Joko Soegiarto Tjandra to imprisonment of 2 years and 6 months in prison," said Chief Justice Muhammad Sirat while reading out the verdict at the East Jakarta District Court, Tuesday, December 22.
In the verdict, the judge considered incriminating and mitigating things. For those who are burdensome, Joko Tjandra used fake travel documents and COVID-19 free letters when he was still a fugitive. Thus, the use of fake travel documents is considered to endanger the safety of the public in the pandemic mass.
Meanwhile, for mitigating matters, Joko Tjandra was cooperative during the trial. Then, he too has aged and regretted his actions.
"Stating that the defendant Djoko Soegiarto Tjandra was legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act jointly and continued to produce fake letters," he said.
The verdict handed down by the judge was heavier than the demands of the public prosecutor. Where the prosecutor charged Joko Tjandra with a sentence of two years in prison.
In this case, Joko Tjandra was charged together with the Head of the Coordinating and Supervision Bureau (Kakorwas) of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (PPNS) Brigadier General Prasetijo Utomo and Advocate Anita Dewi Anggraeni Kolopaking. They are considered to be involved in making Joko's fake pass. Joko Tjandra was convicted for the right to collect the Bank Bali case. He was sentenced to 2 years in prison and became a DPO.
