Antonio Conte Disappointed Premier League Becomes The First Top League In Europe To Run After The 2022 World Cup

JAKARTA - After the 2022 World Cup break, Europe's competition is rolling again and the fastest is the English Premier League. This schedule, which is considered too tight, irritated Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte.

During the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, almost all European leagues stopped for a month. The majority of competitions were closed two weeks before kick-off.

But after the simultaneous break, the continued moments of the European leagues started again with different schedules. The English Premier League became the fastest competition, as it rolled back on Monday, December 26 which coincided with the Boxing Day tradition.

The match is unlikely to be removed from the competition calendar. After Boxing Day, there were two more games at the beginning of the year, before entering the third round of the FA Cup and a week off.

The busy schedule after more than a month of fighting at the World Cup will certainly burden a number of players.

This is what makes Conte frustrated. He wondered why the Premier League was too hasty to start the competition.

"It's really weird and honestly I don't like us playing again this fast - just a week after the World Cup," Antonio Conte was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail on Monday, December 26.

With the existing schedule, Conte was also worried that many Tottenham Hotspur players would be called to the World Cup, including Ivan Perisic and Hugo Lloris, who played until the semifinals. Even Richarlison had to go home injured and had to be out for four weeks.

"On the one hand, you are happy that Tottenham as my club have 12 players at the World Cup. That means we are on the right track to be a competitive team and win trophies in the future."

"But it's only natural that when you have a lot of players who appear in tournaments like this, especially in the middle of the season, it's not easy because the players are definitely not in the best condition," he said.

Tottenham itself is a team that gets a schedule to appear on the first day of the 2022/2023 Premier League resummation. The Lilywhites had to travel to Brentford headquarters on Monday night at 19.30 WIB to play week 17.
