Jokowi Willing To Reshuffle Cabinet, Is Risma Right To Become Social Minister?

JAKARTA - It is reported that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will reform the six ministers who currently sit in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet. One of the ministerial posts that will be overhauled is the Minister of Social Affairs.

After Juliari Batubara was arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) some time ago, news was widely heard that this position would be filled by cadres of the same party, namely the Mayor of Surabaya, Tri Rismaharini (Risma) from PDI Perjuangan.

Seeing this, a political observer from the Indonesia Political Opinion (IPO), Dedi Kurnia Syah, views that the position of the Minister of Social Affairs must be filled by people who are not only with integrity, but have high social sensitivity.

"Social integrity and sensitivity are needed because the Ministry of Social Affairs is a ministry dominated by the public interest. In fact, its overall performance must have an impact on society," Dedi told VOI, Tuesday, December 22.

Dedi said, Risma was considered to have these two characters. Unfortunately, Risma's performance is also not very profitable, if you look at her track record as Mayor of Surabaya.

In terms of performance in the field, Risma is indeed interesting. However, according to Dedi, for a ministerial level that has a more complex coordination network, a shop with two capitals is needed, implementation and policy.

The public certainly remembers when Risma gave off her emotions when she learned that the PCR car assistance given by BNPB was brought to another city from Surabaya by the East Java Provincial Government.

"Reading Risma's character while leading Surabaya, it seems not very profitable to be at the Minister of Social Affairs, apart from the fact that one political party with Juliari Batubara was proven to be corrupt, Risma was too emotional to face the crisis, while the Minister of Social Affairs needed a minister with great sensitivity. Risma has yet to show that. , "explained Dedi.

Therefore, Dedi suggested Jokowi to fill the position of Social Minister from the professional circle. This is because what is needed is not only clever policy matters, but understanding how the policy impacts the public.

"Figures like Susi Pudjiastuti, Arief Yahya, Jonan, or even Dahlan Iskan, can be used as references. Such characters will be more helpful than other characters," he said.

Risma about the minister's offer

The Mayor of Surabaya, Tri Rismaharini, reportedly received an offer to become Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) replacing Juliari P. Batubara who was involved in the COVID-19 social assistance (bansos) corruption case.

"I received news that Mrs. Risma was appointed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, to become Minister of Social Affairs in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet," said Plt. Chairman of the Surabaya PSI DPD, Yusuf Lakaseng, Sunday, December 13.

Responding to this, Risma admitted that she was not eyeing the post of Minister of Social Affairs. However, Risma stated that she was ready if the Chairperson of the PDI Perjuangan, Megawati Sukarnoputri, was to assign the position of Minister of Social Affairs.

"Therefore, why don't I dare again. Whoever says, if I get an order from Bu Mega, 'Bu Risma you are doing it, I'm just walking'," said Risma, Wednesday, December 16, 2020.

Risma again emphasized that he never even asked for the position of Social Minister. Because according to him, the position of Minister of Social Affairs has a heavy responsibility.

"But I'm not the one who asked, or I want it. If I'm the one who wants, I'm afraid of it, because millions depend on the aid. If I'm wrong it's very dangerous, I have to answer to God, opo," said Risma.

Risma also confirmed that Megawati Soekarnoputri, the Chairperson of the PDI-P has not given her any orders, especially regarding the Minister's issue, which the media has been discussing for several days.

"Not yet. Because the pilkadanya (Pilkada Surabaya 2020) has not yet been completed," he said.

According to Risma, the work of the Minister of Social Affairs is very hard. Because millions of people in Indonesia are very dependent on the Minister of Social Affairs. That is the reason for not having the ambition to become Minister of Social Affairs, unless he does get an assignment from Megawati Soekarnoputri.

"So that's why I don't dare at all, whoever influences me, I don't dare to think about it, because it must be a tough task. Because millions of people depend on it, starting from aid, PKH, what, what, it must be hard. I didn't think, I didn't ask, surely God will help me when I'm having a hard time, "said Risma.
