Even Though The Primary Energy Supply Is Sufficient, The Secretary General Of ESDM Assessed That There Will Be A Decrease In The Quality Of Electricity In December
JAKARTA - The government directly monitors the alertness of electrical conditions in the Java, Madura, and Bali (Jamali) regions at the 2022 Christmas celebrations and ahead of the 2023 New Year.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Rida Mulyana said the peak electricity load, especially Jamali, during the Nataru holiday, had decreased compared to the previous months.
This is due to the large number of industries, shops that reduce their activity, so that electricity can be used for Christmas and New Year's celebration needs.
"Even though it is reported in each Nataru session that electricity consumption has actually decreased. The decline is approximately 12 percent and that is a normal cycle. But we still must not be careless, we must be vigilant," Rida told the media quoted on Monday, December 26.
According to Rida, the reliability of primary energy supply for generating operations is one of the keys to the safety of electricity availability today. Moreover, PLTU Suralaya has a significant role for the Jawali electricity system.
"Alhamdulillah, earlier PLN's report in terms of coal availability was already above 30 days of operation (HOP). In our opinion, at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, it was more than enough, especially for Suralaya Generations, which is quite large and significant," said Rida.
At Nataru this time, PT PLN (Persero) alerted 3,000 posts and 78,000 personnel to maintain electricity reliability during Nataru. The company has also set a Nataru alert period from 19 December 2022 to 4 January 2023.
"I am very happy, we see that at the national level, posts have been established, both from generation to service, and spread throughout Indonesia. Tens of thousands of workers have been deployed and are operating from December 19 to January 4. We have prepared all of that in order to ensure sufficient energy supply for Christmas and New Year activities," said Rida.
Secretary General Rida appreciated the efforts made by PT PLN (Persero) in maintaining electricity supply for Nataru this time. Rida also thanked and encouraged the workers on duty during Nataru.
"On behalf of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, I express my gratitude and appreciation to PLN and entrust it to continue to be vigilant and more importantly take care of health, keep the spirit of serving this country never get tired," concluded Rida.
For information, on December 22, 2022, the Java-Bali system's Capable Supply Power (DMP) was 32,038 MW with a load of 27,444 MW so that reserves were 4,594 MW or 16.74 percent.
Meanwhile, the peak load (BP) of the Jamali system at the time of Nataru in previous years decreased when compared to working days. The decrease in BP Christmas to BP System was 5,440 MW, while the decline in BP for the New Year was 7,242 MW. The decrease in Christmas Low Weight to Low Low-Systems was 2,567 MW, while the decrease in the Low-Lend of the New Year was 4,710 MW.
Currently, the Java-Bali Interconnection System covers seven provinces, namely Banten, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, East Java, and Bali. Most of the generators in the Java-Bali Interconnection System are on a grid of 500 kV and 150 kV with a total transmission length of 25,986 kms with a substation capacity of 108,871 MVA.
The capacity installed in the Java-Bali system until October 2022 is 45,994 MW with a composition of PLN plants of 42,586 MW and Non-PLN of 3,408 MW.
