Messi Comments In The Middle Of His Contract Which Only Has 6 Months Left In Barcelona

JAKARTA - Lionel Messi has spoken out about his situation at Barcelona amid growing transfer rumors when his contract has only six months left at the Camp Nou.

The 33-year-old stunned the football world when he wanted to leave Camp Nou after Barcelona were beaten 2-8 by Bayern Munich in last season's Champions League quarter-finals.

Manchester City, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are the clubs to be linked as next goals after Messi expressed his desire to use his release clause via burofax.

However, Barcelona refused to release Messi for free and argued that his clause had passed the deadline.

In the end, Messi decided to stay at the Camp Nou because he did not want to drag Barcelona to legal action regarding his clause.

He is reportedly determined to help the club through challenging times after going through the most difficult period of his career to date.

"The truth is today I was fine. It is true that I had a very bad time in the summer," the Argentina captain told La Sexta as quoted by Antara on Monday.

"It came from before. What happened before the summer, because of how (last) season ended, burofax and all that ... Then I dragged it a little bit earlier in the season."

"However, today I was fine and I feel like I want to fight seriously for everyone in front, (I'm) excited."

"I know that the club is going through difficult times, at club level and in everything around Barcelona, but I'm looking forward to it."

Messi will return to action with Barcelona when they travel to Real Valladolid in La Liga on Wednesday morning CET.
