It's Been 7 Operations Day, The SAR Team Stopped The French Tourist Search From Sinking In Gili Trawangan

The search and rescue team (SAR) finally stopped the search for French tourist Lydie Annie Mauricette (50), who allegedly drowned while trying to swim from Gili Trawangan to Gili Meno, North Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, last Sunday, December 18. The search was halted after the SAR Team operated for seven days.

Acting Head of the Mataram Search and Rescue Office (SAR), Muhdar, in Mataram, Saturday, said that based on the results of coordination with the SAR elements involved, SAR operations were stopped on the seventh day or Saturday, December 24.

"We stopped the search today at 18.00 WITA with no results. The joint SAR team has not been able to find any signs of the victim's whereabouts," he said.

The joint SAR team, he said, had made every effort to search both from waters and land.

He explained that the search radius at sea reached tens of nautical miles (NM) from the estimated location of the drowning victim using the main equipment in the form of a Sea rider and a speed boat.

While searching on land via sweeping along Sire Beach and Impos, Pemenang District, North Lombok Regency.

Muhdar added that the dissemination of information to fishermen and local residents had also been carried out. Unfriendly weather is an obstacle faced by the SAR team in their efforts to find victims.

"Especially the search for water, the obstacle is heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, strong currents, and high waves," he said.

The elements involved included the rescue team of the Bangsal SAR Alert Post, Gili Indah Naval Post, NTB Regional Police Water Police, North Lombok Police, and Pemenang Police.

Then, the National Water Conservation Area Center (BKKPN) Gili Matra Working Area (Gili Meno, Air and Trawangan), Supervisory Community Group, Barasiaga, Divider Gili Trawangan, Share Love, Diver 3 Gili, North Lombok Basarnas Potential, local community and others, said Muhdar.
