BABEL - Regina Pacis Parish Catholic Church Tanjung Pandan, Belitung Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province (Babel), built a four-meter-high Christmas tree from palm oil leaves.
Secretary of the Christmas Celebration Committee for the Regina Pacis Catholic Church, Tanjung Pandan, Djohan Wijaya, said that the Christmas trees made from palm oil are environmentally friendly.
"The Christmas tree theme was deliberately made with palm oil leaves as a form of environmentally friendly campaign," he said in Tanjung Pandan, Babel, Saturday, December 24, which was confiscated by Antara.
According to him, besides that, the Christmas tree made from palm oil leaves is in line with Belitung Island which has the potential for palm oil.
"Then in Belitung there is also a lot of palm oil, so indeed we take it simple but still prioritize environmentally friendly campaigns," he said.
Djohan said, every Christmas celebration, the Regina Pacis Tanjung Pandan Parish Catholic Church always builds an environmentally friendly Christmas tree.
"In the past, we made Christmas trees from used goods, previously we also made Christmas trees using dolls and so on," he said.
Djohan added that preparations for the 2022 Christmas Mass at the Regina Pacis Tanjung Pandan Parish Catholic Church had reached 90 percent.
The 2022 Christmas Mass will be held on Saturday, December 24 at 19.00 WIB. He estimates that as many as 800 Catholics in the area will attend the mass service.
The committee, he continued, had prepared a health post for people who were sick or had health problems while following the way of worship.
