Basketball was discovered in December 1891 by Canadian pastor, educator and doctor James Naismith. Naismith introduced the game as he was an instructor at the Men's Youth Christian Association Training School (now Springfield College) in Springfield, Massachusetts. At the request of his superior, Dr. Luther H. Gulick, he holds a passionate recreation that is suitable for indoor winter games.

In 1959, Basketball Hall of Fame was founded in Springfield, Massachusetts. His list includes the names of great players, coaches, referees, and people who have contributed significantly to game development. The formation of the National Basketball League, and the Basketball Association of America created a strong attraction nationally, to Canada and elsewhere around the world.
