Covid-19 Cases Soaring, Apple Is Forced To Close Its Shop Again
JAKARTA - Apple was forced to re-close its official outlets in California, United States (US). This is due to the high number of COVID-19 cases in the US in recent weeks.
"Due to the current state of COVID-19 in some of the communities we serve, we are temporarily closing shops in this area. We are taking this step very carefully as we are monitoring the situation closely and we hope our team and customers will return as soon as possible," Apple said as quoted from USA Today, Monday, December 22.
Reportedly, the US has recorded 17.2 million cases of infection and 311,102 deaths due to the Corona virus since the beginning of the pandemic. This has resulted in Uncle Sam's country becoming one of the states with the most impact and high cases.
Therefore, Apple decided this because it did not want to take risks related to its employees and customers. Although so far, there is no information on when the shop will reopen.
However, customers can still retrieve the devices ordered from Apple through Support Genius until December 22.
"We will close temporarily, but are currently open to taking existing online orders, which were previously scheduled for in-store Genius Support appointments," said Apple.
The store in California is one of the largest of the 100 Appls Stores that are also currently out of operation. According to information, stores in Tennessee are closed this weekend, as well as a number of Apple outlets in the UK.
A total of 18 stores in Germany and the Netherlands also closed last week, following stores in Mexico and Brazil. Apple started closing retail locations earlier this year and many of its stores were closed for months.
Dan began reopening stores in June, but Apple states that stores may close again depending on guidelines and conditions in the local area.
