Ryan Garcia Against Gervonta Davis Without A Warming Battle
JAKARTA - The fight between Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis has been canceled several times. However, they finally reached an agreement to face each other in April in Las Vegas.
While Davis will face Dominica total Luis Garcia in a warm-up fight, Garcia no longer needs to fight because he doesn't want to waste time and wants to focus on his fight against the 'Tank'.
"I have time to think about whether I really want to do this," Garcia explained in an interview with Sports Illustrated quoted by Marca, Friday.
"Tank always wants to do things that make it as comfortable as possible.
"I don't need to warm up, I want to do the biggest fight for the fans.
"I have decided that I have finished playing, ready to beat Tanks."
Garcia was previously scheduled to fight Philippine Mageto Gesta on January 28, 2023 in Phoenix, but no official announcement has ever been made.
For American Mexican-derived boxers, the fight against Davis is about showing fans and the boxing world that he is ready to jump onto the big stage and build his own legacy.
"It's not about money for me," he added.
It's not about an easy fight. It's the best thing for me, for my mindset, to enter a big fight.
"I want to really focus on a fight that's important to me and it's a Tank."
The duel promised a spectacular encounter between two unbeaten fighters who sought glory and established themselves among the best boxers of its time.
Garcia has a record 19 knockouts in 23 fights, but Davis has 25 knockouts in 27 wins. The fight will be at an agreed weight of 136 pounds.
The duel will take place April 15 in Las Vegas, assuming there are no more cancellations.
