Elliot Page Uploads First Photo After Announcing Transgender
JAKARTA - Actor Elliot Page greets fans on Sunday, December 20, for the first time since announcing he is transgender.
Through his latest upload, Page provides a new, simple selfie with a beanie hat and hoodie along with glasses.
"From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Your love and support is the greatest gift. Keep on guard. Always be there for each other," said the player of The Umbrella Academy.
He also hopes that netizens who can send donations can send funds to two transgender-focused organizations.
"See you in 2021. Xoxo, Elliot," he said closing the message on Instagram. Earlier this month, Elliot Page announced he was transgender.
Previously, in 2014, he declared himself gay and felt satisfied because he could open up to his true identity. Then he declared himself transgender in early December.
"The fact is that although I feel happy and know the privileges I bring, I am also terrified. I am afraid of invasive action, hatred, jokes and violence," Elliot Page said in an open letter he wrote.
His latest upload has been liked by more than 1.5 million Instagram users. Support has poured in from fans and relatives of public figures such as directors James Gunn, Jennifer Garner, and Janelle Monae.
Meanwhile, Netflix has confirmed that Elliot Page will continue to play Vanya Hargreeeves in the latest season of The Umbrella Academy.
