Alibaba Ikutan Makes A Foldable Screen Smartphone

JAKARTA - E-commerce company made by Jack Ma, Alibaba, seems to be eyeing the world smartphone market. This company has secretly registered a patent draft for a mobile phone unit with a folding screen design.

Quoted from Gizbot, this folding screen smartphone has been registered with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), on January 21, 2020. Based on its patent design, the smartphone design that is registered by Alibaba is unique compared to the folding screen phones owned by Samsung and Motorola.

Because the smartphone that is carried by Alibaba can be folded twice. So the bottom and top of this phone can be folded so that it closes perfectly.

In an open state, this smartphone looks like a cellphone in general. Uniquely, this cellphone from Alibaba also has a secondary display panel on the back side, which is one-third the size of this cellphone.

So when this phone is closed, users can still check display notifications quickly. This phone also has two physical buttons in the form of power and volume.

It's just that from the appearance of the patent design seen by Let's Go Digital, this phone doesn't show where the rear or front camera is.

Alibaba's plan to make this folding screen smartphone is quite interesting, because the company made by Jack Ma has never produced a cellphone. Not only one design, Alibaba has also registered nine models for this first smartphone.

Unfortunately, there has been no leak of specifications or prices that Alibaba will offer for this folding screen smartphone.

Foldable Screen Smartphone Trend

Long before Alibaba registered a patent design for its folding screen smartphone. Samsung and Motorola have already produced folding screen phones.

Motorola has even introduced its folding screen smartphone to the public, bearing the name Razr. This phone will be a long comeback from Motorola, which will be launched on 18 February.

While Samsung is also reportedly producing a folding screen smartphone called the Galaxy Z Flip. This smartphone also has a clamshell design similar to the Motorola Razr. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is rumored to be making its debut on February 14th.

The phenomenon of folding cellphones is indeed mushrooming in several world cellphone vendors. They are competing to produce folding screen phones.
