Followed By Vivaldi, Mozilla Also Creates Special Integrated Servers With Mastodon

JAKARTA - Mozilla, the maker of the Firefox browser announced the creation of the Mastodon instance, one of the decentralized servers, where the social network will be in early 2023.

This server will be available for public testing early next year. Don't know when the server will be widely released, but you can be sure you can sign up for an account in mozilla.social.

"In early 2023, Mozilla will stand up and test publicly accessible examples at the Fediverse in Mozilla.Social," said Steve Teixeira, chief product officer at Mozilla in an announcement on his blog.

According to Mozilla, open, decentralized, and global social services that prioritize people's needs are not only possible, but also absolutely necessary.

Mastodon's assistance is similar to that of an email service provider, where all users must join one instance, but can communicate with users at other instances once they join.

Mozilla was not the first browser to create a special Mastodon instance, before Vivaldi had already made it with Vivaldi Social.

Di sisi lain, di tengah drama yang terus berlanjut dengan Twitter dan CEO barunya, Elon Musk, Mastodon mengalami peningkatan aktif yang signifikan.

Mastodon, a decentralized social media platform widely used as an alternative to Twitter, has now skyrocketed from around 300,000 monthly active users to 2.5 million between October and November.

However, Mastodon isn't the only replacement platform for Twitter. There was a Post app, which was led by former Waze CEO Noam Bardin, then the Hive app, which was recently re-launched after dealing with some security issues. There are also well-known social platforms such as Discord, Tumblr, and Reddit.
