The Kendari Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reminded people who use sea transportation services during the D-3 Christmas 2022 holiday to be aware of high waves and strong winds in the waters of Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra).

Coordinator of Observation and Maritime Meteorological Station Kendari Faizal Habibie explained that the potential for high sea waves and strong winds is likely to occur in the waters of Baubau, Wakatobi to the East Banda Sea.

In that region, winds have the potential to be blown away at a speed of 2-130 knots from the southwest to the northwest on December 22-25. Meanwhile, sea waves have the potential to reach 1.25 meters to 2.5 meters.

"So the area of opportunity for waves reaching 2.5 meters is like the waters Menari eastern part, northern Baubau waters, western and eastern Wakatobi northern waters as well as the waters of the western part of the Banda Southeast Sulawesi Sea," he said in a written statement, Thursday, December 21, confiscated by Antara.

Furthermore, Faizal predicts that the weather in a number of areas in Southeast Sulawesi has the potential to rain during the day. The potential for light rain is likely to occur in Kolaka, East Kolaka, Konawe and North Konawe Regencies.

Meanwhile in the afternoon, rain is predicted to flush Kolaka and Bombana regencies and light rain in the areas of Baubau, Buton, North Buton, Kendari, Kolaka, East Kolaka, North Kolaka, Konawe, South Konawe, North Konawe, Konawe Islands, Muna, West Muna and Wakatobi.

"And at night, generally the Southeast Sulawesi region is sunny and cloudy," he said.
