Accept President Zelensky's Visit, Joe Biden: Ukraine Has Fired Fighting
JAKARTA - United States President Joe Biden received a visit from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House on Wednesday.
In a joint press conference after the meeting, President Biden said it was very meaningful to meet the Ukrainian leader in person.
President Biden then praised Ukraine for its success and said its people had "unbroken techniques" during the war.
"Ukraine has won the Kyiv battle, winning the Kharkiv battle, winning the Kherson battle. Ukraine has opposed Russia's expectations at every opportunity," he explained, citing Sky News December 22.
Taking a Kremlin shot, President Biden said Russia used winter as a weapon.
"We have to be clear about what Russia is doing. Russia deliberately attacks its critical infrastructure by destroying its systems to provide heat and light to the Ukrainian people during the coldest and darkest months," President Biden said.
"Russia uses people as weapons, freezes people, makes people starving. This is the latest example of the atrocities by Russian forces against the Ukrainian people," he criticized.
He added that President Vladimir Putin "has no intention of stopping this cruel war".
