Unlike Java, Train Travel In Sumatra Does Not Require A Rapid Antigen Test

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has not required prospective long-distance train passengers on the island of Sumatra to have a rapid antigen test result as a condition of travel.

EVP Corporate Secretary KAI Dadan Rudiansyah said, the requirement for an antigen rapid test that must show a negative result only applies in Java. Meanwhile, the conditions in Sumatra are still using the rapid antibody test or PCR swab.

"For long-distance train trips on the island of Sumatra, customers are required to show a certificate of the results of a non-reactive antibody rapid test or a negative PCR test for COVID-19 which is valid no later than 14 days before the departure date," said Dadan in his statement, Monday, December 21.

Meanwhile, long-distance trains on the island of Java are required to show a negative COVID-19 antigen rapid test result certificate that is valid no later than 3 days before the departure date.

"From December 22, 2020 to January 8, 2021, long distance train customers in Java are required to show negative antigen rapid test results as a condition for boarding the train," said Dadan.

According to him, this requirement follows the Circular of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Number 3 of 2020 concerning the Health Protocol for People Travel During Christmas Holidays and Welcoming the New Year 2021 in the Covid-19 Pandemic Period.

In the SE, actors traveling for long-distance trains and airplanes to and from Java are required to show a negative result certificate using the antigen rapid test no later than 3x24 hours before departure as a travel requirement.

"KAI complies with all health protocol rules set by the government in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 via rail transportation," said KAI's EVP Corporate Secretary Dadan Rudiansyah.

According to Dadan, the requirements for ownership of the antigen rapid test results for long-distance train travelers do not apply to children under 12 years of age.
