Rodgers Called Calm The Key To Leicester's Victory Over Tottenham
JAKARTA - Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers said his team appeared so mature when they beat the hosts Tottenham Hotspur by a score of 2-0 in the Premier League in London, Sunday local time (Monday WIB).
After taking the lead through Jamie Vardy's penalty just before halftime, Leicester entered the second half with a goal from James Maddison that was later ruled out for VAR.
Nevertheless, Leicester still managed to double their lead when Vardy's header failed to be anticipated by Toby Alderweireld who ended up scoring an own goal.
"It's really unfortunate. From the pictures I see, it looks very thin, and maybe not many people will protest if Vardy's goal is scored," Rodgers said in post-match comments quoted by Antara from Leicester's official website.
"But we were able to find our composure again even though we had our goal ruled out," he added.
After winning by two goals, Leicester were mostly under Tottenham's pressure even though the hosts were unable to create meaningful opportunities.
The only dangerous chance came in the 71st minute when Son Heung-min volleyed in a corner, which goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel was able to counter.

"I think we controlled the second half even though we didn't have the ball and created a dangerous situation when we got the ball," said Rodgers.
"We showed maturity in controlling today's match, something very satisfying," he concluded.
"Strategically, the players were first class." 💬Brendan Rodgers praised his team's tactical display and Jamie Vardy's reliability from the penalty spot after today's win 👇
