Ministry Of Transportation Encourages People To Keep Safety Driving In A New Habit
JAKARTA - Director General of Land Transportation, Budi Setiyadi, has socialized driving safety or driving safety. This includes encouraging people to maintain health, especially during the adaptation period for new habits, both motorized vehicles and cars.
To continue to carry out activities during the adaptation period of new habits and to drive the national economy, in this case the community is still allowed to carry out activities as usual by always prioritizing health protocols.
"Health and safety are the main things, so drive according to the rules and don't forget to apply health protocols," said Director General Budi.
Furthermore, based on data from Korlantas Polri, every 1 hour there are 1 or 2 people die from traffic accidents. Of the total accidents that occurred in 2019, there were 116,411 accidents in which 73.1% of cases involved motorbikes.
"This percentage is certainly very high when compared to accidents involving other modes of transportation, namely cars by 14 percent, buses 1.1 percent, trucks 7.2 percent, bicycles 1.8 percent, and others 2.9 percent," said Director General Budi.
He also explained that there are four factors that cause traffic accidents, one of which is the human factor that dominates the most because there are still many people who are less skilled, unfocused, and careless when driving.
However, there are other factors that cause accidents, such as the vehicle being used that is not roadworthy, the road factor that is slippery or potholes, and environmental factors such as curves or natural disasters.
"Different from usual, in the midst of this pandemic, motorists are required to implement health protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19. I often see motorcycle taxi riders using a shield that can block driver droplets to passengers. I really appreciate and hope this can also be imitated by the public. others in order to reduce the number of Covid-19 transmission, "he added.
In this regard, he also emphasized that the responsibility to reduce the number of accidents must not only be carried out by the Government, but also by the community and business actors.
"All must work together to create a good atmosphere in traffic. The government prepares regulations, manufacturers make vehicles in accordance with the rules, people drive vehicles that are suitable for use and comply with regulations in traffic," he explained.
