23 Players For The 2022 AFF Cup Officially Released, Shin Tae-yong Not Wearing The Names Elkan Baggott And Sandy Walsh

JAKARTA - Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae-yong officially named 23 players to take part in the 2022 AFF Cup. There are no names of Elkan Baggott and Sandy Walsh. Both names were not included because they could not leave the club.

Elkan Baggott is currently playing for Gillingham FC as a loan player from Ipswich Town. He chose to stay at the club because he wanted to help the team as long as they were from the relegation zone.

In addition to the minuses of the two players, Shin Tae Yong also eliminated names such as Muhammad Ferarri, Muhammad Dzaky, and Andy Setyo from his squad for choice for this Southeast Asian region event.

"The players are ready to take part in the 2022 AFF Cup. There are still a few days left to finalize tactics and strategies ahead of the inaugural match against Cambodia," said Shin Tae-yong on PSSI's official website.

The Korean coach's squad had previously prepared itself for three weeks at the Bali United Training Center in the Purnama Beach area and I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar.

Shin said the players had shown good and good progress during the training camp in Bali.

"We choose players according to the team's needs," he explained regarding the name chosen.

The 2022 AFF Cup will be held from December 20, 2022 to January 16, 2023. At the event, Indonesia is in Group A with Cambodia, Brunei Darussalam, Thailand, and the Philippines.

The Garuda squad will start a campaign against Cambodia on December 23. Followed by Brunei, Thailand, and the Philippines in the last match.
