GORONTALO - A landslide occurred in Bilato District, Gorontalo Regency. As a result, road access to Bilato Village and Tulaa Village was cut off.

"The avalanches covered the flow of the Paguyaman River, which caused the houses around it to be flooded by rivers," said Gorontalo Province PB Expert Arranger Mohamad Tahir Laendeng when contacted, Sunday, December 18, as reported by Antara.

The landslide occurred at 15.05 WITA at the border of Totopo Village and Jurya Village which was crossed by the Paguyaman River.

"We don't have any data on casualties and conditions yet, because the team has not reached the location. The situation is that there is a power outage and road access is broken," he said.

He revealed that before the disaster occurred, the intensity of the rain was quite high over the last few days.

Local residents are aware of landslides at other points, given the extreme weather that has occurred recently.

Kelato Subdistrict is one of the upstream parts of the Paguyaman River, which is often hit by floods and landslides.

BMKG Gorontalo, issued an early warning of the potential for moderate to heavy rain for three days, namely 19-21 December 2022.

The rain was accompanied by lightning or lightning and strong winds in the districts of Gorontalo, North Gorontalo, Pohuwato and Gorontalo.
