AMBON - TNI and Polri deployed at least 600 joint personnel to secure the process of repatriating Kariuw refugees after the social conflict on Haruku Island, Central Maluku Regency, since January 2022."Social conflict refugees on Haruku Island will be discharged on Monday and the Ambon Island and Lease Island Police will deploy as many as 600 joint TNI-Polri personnel for security," said Head of Public Relations of Ambon Police and Lease Island Ipda Moyo Utomo in Ambon, Antara, Sunday, December 18.Apart from the Ambon Police, personnel were also deployed from the Directorate of Samapta Polda Maluku, Brimob Unit, Polairud Directorate, and Raidader 733.Moyo said the hundreds of joint personnel had participated in a joint rally to get directions and were then dispatched to Haruku Island, Sunday."It is certain that the agenda for the repatriation of the Kariuw refugees, who are currently in Aboru Country, Haruku Island District, will take place tomorrow (Monday) and involve 600 joint TNI-Polri personnel for security," explained Moyo Utomo.Previously, Acting (Pj) Central Maluku Regent Muhammad Marasabessy said the plan to repatriate Kariuw refugees from Aboru Country would use sea transportation services. A total of 109 families will be sent home in the first phase, Monday, by sea.Furthermore, the next refugee will be repatriated by land after reconciliation with the people of Hulaliuw.
