Turkish Non-Mutual Combat Jet Kizilelma Flying Permana, Can Release Landas And Landing On The Main Ship
JAKARTA - Turkey's newest unmanned fighter jet Kizilelma made its inaugural flight, according to a video shared by Baykar's Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the Bayraktar SMALL on Wednesday.
"We can't keep it on the ground anymore. It's flying! Thank you to God", Bayraktar said on Twitter, according to Daily Sabah December 14.
The National Non-Maritic Combat Air Vehicle System (MIUS), named Kizilelma (Red Ape) has low detection capability and hypersonic speed, is an important and strategic project, as it is expected to ensure independence.
The rapid drone fighter jet Kizilelma represents a significant expansion of capabilities, for slow-moving reconnaissance and missile-carrying drones.
It will be able to take off and land on a short-run aircraft carrier, including Turkey's flagship amphibious assault ship TCG Anadolu.
The company said the autonomous maneuvering Kizilelma would be able to operate jointly with piloted aircraft capable of carrying air-to-air missiles.
It is known, unmanned fighter jets are projected to carry out many military actions, such as strategic attacks, near-range air support (CAS), missile strikes, suppression of enemy air defenses (SEAD) and destruction of enemy air defenses (DEAD).
In addition, Kizilelma is projected to be able to fly for five hours and reach speeds of up to 800 kph (500 mph or Mach 0.64).
A new Turkish drone powered by a jet engine shows an exterior feature similar to a fifth-generation fighter jet. Baykar said, in addition to the conventional drone mission, Kizilelma will be able to carry out airstrikes into the air.
