The US Embassy Only Holds Special Services In The Middle Of The Spike In COVID-19 In China

JAKARTA - China's COVID-19 cases are again worrying. The spike in cases occurred again.

This prompted the United States Embassy in Beijing and a number of its consulates in major cities in China to suspend visa services.

Services are only provided on a limited basis for emergency passport and consular applications, the US Embassy said.

The US Embassy also added that visa applications in all places were canceled and applicants were required to reschedule the interview appointment, as quoted from Antara, Friday, December 16, yesterday.

Apart from Beijing, several US consulates that have suspended visa application services are in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenyang, and Wuhan.

The Indonesian Embassy in Beijing has previously issued a similar announcement. Beijing's surge in COVID-19 has caused the Indonesian Embassy to close until Tuesday, December 20.

Meanwhile, a number of epidemiologists predict the wave of COVID-19 in China will peak in January-February 2023, along with the Lunar New Year holiday season.
