Qatar Inaugurates Fourth Stadium For 2022 World Cup
JAKARTA - Qatar inaugurated the fourth of the eight stadiums for the 2022 World Cup venue. Al Rayyan Stadium was also the venue for the Amir Cup final between Al-Sadd and Al-Arabi.
"What an amazing football stadium," said FIFA President Gianni Infantino in a statement as quoted by Reuters on Saturday, December 19.
According to Gianni, the stadium atmosphere can provide an extraordinary experience to the audience. He believes that this stadium can be the perfect venue for the 2022 World Cup.
"The country is well prepared to stage the next FIFA World Cup and is on course to host this memorable tournament, a first in the Middle East and the Arab world," he said.
The 40,000-seat Al Rayyan Stadium will host seven of the 2022 World Cup matches through the round of 16.
After the World Cup, the complex surrounding Al Rayyan which includes six training fields, will be turned into a sports area designated for local residents.
Khalifa International, Al Janoub and Education City are three other World Cup venues that have already been inaugurated.
