Quarantine Locations For Indonesian Citizens Evacuated From Wuhan Are Not Hospitals

JAKARTA - The government, through the Ministry of Health, has yet to determine a quarantine location for Indonesian citizens who are planning to be evacuated from Wuhan, China. However, it is certain that the quarantine will not be carried out in the hospital. Despite undergoing quarantine, the family can still meet.

Director of Prevention and Control of Direct Communicable Diseases of the Ministry of Health Wiendra Waworuntu said quarantine was carried out in a comfortable place.

Quarantine, said Wiendra, is only intended for Indonesian citizens whose symptoms of coronavirus infection are not detected, such as coughs, colds, fever, shortness of breath and muscle aches. Meanwhile, if they experience the symptoms above, they will be evacuated directly to the referral hospital.

"I have already said that we cannot convey the landing plan until today. As you can say in Natuna, there is no (decision) yet," he said, at a press conference, at the Ministry of Health's Office, Jalan Rasuna Said, Kuningan, South Jakarta, Friday. , January 31st.

Wiendra explained, Indonesian citizens who will later undergo a quarantine period will have their basic needs met and be fully borne by the state. This means that there are no costs that will be borne by them.

"We are all ready. For how many days there must be nurses, pulmonary specialists, mental specialists, health workers who continue to control and their nutrition will be regulated and so on. That is the plan to repatriate Indonesian citizens from Wuhan or China," he said.

The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), said Wiendra, already has one that has been made specifically for quarantine. This mechanism, he said, is in accordance with standard operating procedures set by the international health world.

The government will impose a quarantine period for Indonesian citizens who are repatriated from Wuhan for 14 days or 2x7 days. During that time, their health condition will continue to be monitored.

Wiendra said the families of the Indonesian citizens who were evacuated from Wuhan, China could still meet and see in person. However, direct contact is not allowed.

"I didn't say I can't. Yes, but he can't meet. He can't meet (in person), can't chat. At least he can only see oh it's there. His name is quarantine, limiting," he said.

However, Wiendra has not been able to explain the details of the boundaries between Indonesian citizens and their families if they are allowed to meet later. "What distance is 5 meters, there are provisions later. What is clear is that he can take a walk. He can see. But he cannot chat," he said.

As previously reported, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said that his party was ready to pick up all Indonesian citizens in China. The pick-up plan will be on Saturday 1st February.
