JAKARTA - Twitter is trying to complete the bot accounts circulating on its platform. This time, the company plans to create a new type of account to differentiate between automated accounts or bots (robots) from accounts used by humans.
Through its official blog, Twitter revealed that the policy was made so that bot accounts could be detected and would not confuse many users. According to Twitter, currently the bot account is known to have moved on its own automatically.
Moreover, many bot accounts are used to spread things that are not supposed to be, such as hoaxes and misinformation. It is planned that the account label will be carried out in 2021.
"In 2021, we plan to create a new type of account to differentiate between automatic accounts and those run by humans," said Twitter, Friday, December 18.
On the other hand, Twitter will use a bot account to deliver important information, such as earthquake reports or early warnings. Twitter explained, the labeling was done so as not to confuse its users.
With special features, users know which bot accounts are and which are not. And of course, helping users find out who they are interacting with on Twitter.
"We know that it is not easy to evaluate the authenticity of an account on the internet, and knowing who you are interacting with is the essence of a public conversation," Twitter said.
In addition, Twitter also plans to create a new type of account designed to commemorate the accounts of someone who passed away in 2021.
It is claimed, the plan will be equipped with a new policy for memorialization and a new registration flow to make an account a memorial account. At the same time Twitter will also automatically remove verified badges from inactive and incomplete accounts.

The new policy defines full accounts as accounts that have one of the criteria such as having a verified email address or phone number, having a profile picture, having a display profile name.
"If your account is at risk of losing your verified badge, you will get an automatic email and notification on the app telling you what to do to avoid deleting the blue verified badge.
