Otto Wallin Busy Training, Potentially Facing Anthony Joshua In 2023
JAKARTA - The heavyweight boxer, Otto Wallin, continues to train even though he doesn't have a fight schedule. He is preparing for a potential fight against former British two-time world champion Anthony Joshua.
Joshua is scheduled to return to the ring in the first quarter of next year. Otto became one of his potential opponents after failing to secure a duel with Tyson Fury.
"Otto stays in the gym and focuses on the holiday season. The holiday prize he wants to give to his fans is the fight against Anthony Joshua," said Otto promoter Dmitriy Salita, quoted by Boxing Scene.
Otto had made WBC champion Tyson Fury face several difficult moments in their fight in 2019. Fury was forced to secure in 12 rounds and suffered two serious injuries.
After the first defeat of his career, Otto won four wins between 2020 and 2022. He won two wins this year each over Kamil Soko
"Eddie Hearn ( Joshua's promoter) recently said Joshua fought better opponents than Tyson. Otto landed more punches at Tyson than anyone including Wilder's (Deontay) total and (Wladimir) Klitschko," said Salita.
Joshua is currently trying to bounce back after suffering two points in the hands of WBO, IBF, WBA, IBO Oleksandr Usyk champions. The two defeats occurred respectively in September last year and August this year.
Besides Otto, Wilder, and Dillian Whyte, Joshua are also said to want to fight Filip Hrgovic next year. However, the British fighter may have just appointed one of them after setting up his new coaching team.
