Tyson Fury's Hope Of Meeting Oleksandr Usyk Endangered By Pupus, IBF And WBAodorkan Against Mandatory For The Champion
JAKARTA - Tyson Fury's wish to fight Oleksandr Usyk in the race for a heavyweight title is in danger of failing to materialize. The reason is, Usyk was offered an opponent he had to face.
Fury and Usyk previously wanted to fight each other in December 2022, but it was canceled because negotiations failed. The King ofTEN then transferred the shot to Anthony Joshua, unfortunately it failed.
Fury finally boxed with his old friend, Derek Chisora. However, he still has a desire to face Usyk next year.
Unfortunately, WBA and IBF are both trying to offer a mandatory opponent for Usyk.
WBA has informed Usyk that he must face mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois in the next fight. Meanwhile, IBF took the same step by ordering Usyk to fight Filip Hrgovic.
This makes Fury facing a thrilling wait. The promoter from the British boxer is reportedly trying to improve the situation.
Disposing the belt is not an option because the idea of Fury versus Usyk is to unite the heavyweight division.
Fury's fight against Usyk could happen by offering large amounts of side money to Dubois and Hrgovic.
In the Dubois case, he and Fury were both represented by Queensbury Promotions, making the deal easier to negotiate.
But Hrgovic will be difficult. Promotor Eddie Hearn has even dismissed the idea that the boxer resigned in order to smooth Usyk's move to fight Fury.
"IBF already ordered it. We've said we don't want to negotiate. The only way Usyk can get it is if Hrgovic says he can. And he doesn't want to because he wants to fight for the title," Hearn said.
