Part Of Creative Economy, Dodol Betawi Needs Touch Innovation To Become A Kinian Culinary
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) encourages creative economy actors in DKI Jakarta to increase innovation and creativity in creating various distinctive culinary delights, one of which is Dodol Betawi.
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy assesses that Dodol Betawi is one of the typical culinary delights of DKI Jakarta that can be created into contemporary, quality, and competitive culinary.
In an effort to encourage innovation and creation, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy together with the OASE ( Era Solidarity Action Organization) of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet also held a Musak Bersama Master (MASAMO) X OASE of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet with the theme "Dodol Betawi Delight" in the Setu Babakan Area, DKI Jakarta, Tuesday, December 13.
The Advisor to Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Nur Asia Uno, said that dodol is a typical Betawi traditional culinary.
With a touch of innovation and creation, later it can provide added value to Dodol Betawi, so that it becomes a contemporary culinary that is of interest to the wider community, especially the younger generation.
"I am a fan of dodol. I once tried dodol with very good packaging which was packaged like chocolate which can be eaten immediately. So, these millennial children can like dodols with contemporary packaging and of course also with various flavors," he said, Tuesday, December 13.
Regarding various flavors, said Nur, there must be a more attractive variant of taste. If previously there have been creations of durian and cempedak taste, maybe other flavors such as chocolate, cheese, and others can be added.
"With this event, we can open up opportunities for students who want to learn Betawi culture. We at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will help in terms of packaging because these Dodol makers are like tailors, they can only make dodols, later packaging is different again," he explained.
On the same occasion, Deputy for Digital Economy and Creative Products of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Muhammad Neil El Himam said, culinary is the largest contributor to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the creative economy.
The culinary subsector contributed IDR 455.44 trillion or around 41 percent of the total GDP of the creative economy in 2020 amounting to IDR 1,134 trillion.
"Here (Setu Babakan) is also one of the historical and culinary tourist destinations, Betawi culture is an icon of the culture of the city of Jakarta. Betawi has a variety of distinctive culinary delights that attract the tongue and are popular with many people. Dodol Betawi is one of the culinary delights of Jakarta which has a distinctive taste," he said.
For this event, said Neil, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is also collaborating with PKK DKI Jakarta and students of SMK Tata Boga DKI Jakarta.
This synergy aims to have a greater impact on the products of processed dodol that can be created.
"We hope that friends from PKK and SMK can participate in repopulating Dodol Betawi into contemporary food with the creation of 'Dodol Betawi Delight', dimentori by Chef Norman Ismail," he said.
