44.17 Million People Will Do Mobility In Nataru Holidays, Minister Of Transportation Budi: Most Of Jabodetabek

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) predicts that 44.17 million people have the potential to travel during the 2022 Christmas and New Year 2023 (Nataru) holidays. The largest travelers came from the areas of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabotabek) with a total of 7.1 million people.

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi explained that the big interest of the movement was in conjunction with school holidays and there were no restrictions on movement regulated by the Ministry of Transportation during the Nataru holiday this time.

"The potential for this year's national movement is 44.17 million or 16 percent of the total population of Indonesia who will travel," he said at the Commission V Working Meeting of the DPR RI, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 13.

Budi said, the most travelers during the Nataru holiday are estimated to come from the Jabodetabek area with 7.1 million people. Then, East Java as many as 6.2 million people. Followed by Central Java with 5.8 million people, West Java with 4.4 million people and North Sumatra as many as 3 million people.

"The most destinations for travelers are predicted to go to Central Java with 8.7 million people," he said.

The next most regional destination is East Java with 7.7 million people, West Java with 6.5 million people, Jabodetabek with 4.7 million people and 3.6 million going to DI Yogyakarta on this Nataru holiday.

Based on a survey conducted by the Transportation Study Agency of the Ministry of Transportation, Budi said, private cars are the favorite choice of transportation modes by the public with 28.26 percent.

Then, followed by motorcycles with 16.47 percent, who will choose to ride the train as much as 13.42 percent, bus transportation modes by 11.90 percent, sea ships by 2 percent and others.

Furthermore, Budi also estimates that the toll road is a favorite of the community when traveling on the Nataru holiday by dominating 58.7 percent and the arterial route at 41.3 percent.

"The main route that will be most traversed by the community is the North Coast Line or Pantura with 12.8 percent and the Central Cross Road with 11.92 percent," said Budi.
