South Sulawesi Governor Asks Regents-Mayors To Tighten Health Protocols, Appeal To Citizens In Makassar
MAKASSAR - South Sulawesi Governor Nurdin Abdullah hopes that all regents and mayors throughout South Sulawesi will cooperate with all structures in government, from the sub-district head, village head to village head, tighten the implementation of health protocols in the community.
"We ask regents and mayors to take advantage of all sub-district heads, village heads and village heads to properly carry out health protocols ahead of the Christmas and New Year 2021 celebrations during the COVID-19 pandemic," said Nurdin Abdullah, Friday, December 18.
The governor also appealed to regents and mayors to give instructions to the community not to celebrate the new year 2021 in Makassar. The goal is to prevent the spread of COVID-19 from spreading.
"It is hoped that the regional heads do not have a celebration in Makassar but each one in their respective regions. We also have to anticipate a long holiday because of tourist attractions, all of these friends must be of special concern to all of us," said Nurdin.
In addition, Nurdin asked all regional heads and related parties to prepare themselves for the extreme weather at the end of the year and early 2021.
"What is the readiness of all of us to prepare ourselves for this high rainy season," he said.
"Then how about all the heads of offices in South Sulawesi to prepare themselves to receive vaccines from the Central Government and immediately set strategies and steps to receive vaccines," added Nurdin.
Meanwhile, the Regent of Soppeng, Andi Kaswadi Razak admitted that he was very ready to carry out the instructions from the South Sulawesi Governor to reaffirm strict health protocols.
"We are here very ready to run together with Forkompinda in Soppeng Regency and we immediately convey it to all sub-districts, village heads and village heads," he said.
Epidemiologist for the South Sulawesi COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Prof. Ridwan, admitted that currently there is an increase in cases. Therefore, he hopes that all parties can tighten health protocols.
"On the other hand, it is hoped that all of us will work together to break the chain of transmission of COVID-19, especially in celebrating holidays and the new year," he said.
